Pune: The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers IETE Pune Centre honoured distinguished professionals for their contributions to engineering innovation and telecommunications during a special award ceremony held in Pune.
At the event organized by IETE Pune, Dr. Sarika Khope, Assistant Professor and Head – Innovation at GH Raisoni College of Engineering and Management, Pune, was felicitated for her outstanding achievements in patents and copyrights.
The recognition by IETE Pune highlighted her contributions toward research, intellectual property creation, and academic innovation.
During the ceremony hosted at Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology, Pimpri, Krishana Mohan Kumar was honoured with the prestigious Dr. K. R. Phadke Award for his outstanding contributions to telecommunications engineering.
The award by IETE Pune recognizes excellence and impactful work in the field of electronics and telecommunications.
The event also featured an address by Tara Singh, former scientist at Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), who spoke about the growing role of women in the modern economy.

IETE Pune: Women Entrepreneurship Is Best Option For Future
Addressing the gathering during the IETE Pune event, he emphasised that women’s entrepreneurship is no longer merely an option but the “best option for the future.”
He further remarked that women represent a powerful force in society, noting that they possess the unique ability to build both homes and nations while contributing significantly to economic growth.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. R. D. Kharadkar, Vice President of IETE Pune, highlighted the objective of the Dr. K. R. Phadke Award and congratulated the award recipients for their achievements and contributions to the engineering ecosystem.
The IETE Pune award ceremony was attended by several academic and institutional leaders, including Dr. Sunil Somani, Chairman of IETE Pune Chapter; Dr. N. P. Sharje, Principal of Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology, Pimpri; Dr. Dheeraj Agarwal, Pro Vice Chancellor of D. Y. Patil Dnyanprasad Global University, Pune; Dr. D. G. Bhalke, Head of the Electronics and Telecommunications (E&TC) Department at Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology, Pimpri; and Dr. Amol Bhoi, Head of the E&TC Department at GH Raisoni College of Engineering and Management, Pune.
